I was expecting an upgrade that either increased the radius in which the mouse collects matter or an upgrade which makes the black hole automatically suck in an asteroid every now and again.

Would recommend adding a cap to number of asteroids though, there doesn't seem to be one and later on the performance noticeably tanks.

I added click AOE this morning and an upgrade to increase the size. I'm going to be reworking how the spawning works and when I do, I'll likely add a cap.

Game really struggles with performance, at least in browser. Went down to 1 FPS with only one spawn rate upgrade.

Would have liked an upgrade to make collecting the red matter easier or automatic, I ended up with a lot of uncollected matter that I couldn't be bothered to mouse over though the performance problems played a big part in that.

You seem easy to upset and I hope life is kinder to you.

lol, yeah I hope life works out for them. This is a free prototype of a demo and I'm working on a new build. Currently this build is a test to see how the click to play is.

I like it and need much more !

Hey Aarimous, I love your videos! Here are my thoughts on game 3:

What I loved:

  • The gameplay loop is relaxing yet remains quite satisfying. I could immediately notice the effect of every upgrade and appreciated how quickly I felt the progression of my black hole.
  •  I love the color palete. All these colors work really nicely together.
  • The audio in this game is great! I loved finding a cluster of asteroids and hearing those satisfying pops as I wreaked havoc on the cosmos. Also, the music is jammin'. I definitely caught myself bobbing my head along to the beat.
  • Not sure if the name is a placeholder but, fwiw, I really like it and hope it doesn't change!
  • When I reached the end-game, I was disappointed...which shows how much I enjoyed playing!

What I didn't love:

  • The progress bar didn't really make sense to me. I don't really understand what it means to "level-up" other than my black hole getting a bit bigger. Why couldn't my black-hole just continuously get bigger as I eat more asteroids? Why is "leveling" necessary?
  • Performance definitely tanked the more I played the game. I'm guessing that overall CPU load increases somewhat linearly with the number of asteroids in existence.

What I wish was in the game:

  • My number one wish for this game is the introduction of risk/reward into the gameplay loop. As of now, there literally is no way to lose, which makes for a less engaging experience. I'd love to see the introduction of some mechanics that introduces some risk into the game while still keeping the overall vibe relaxed. One example: What if moving cost resources and running out of resources caused your black hole to implode, ending the game? This would force gamers to think strategically about their resource usage in order to get a higher score.
  • Thematically, I think there's an opportunity to introduce some humor into the game. What if your black hole was created by corporate overlords looking to suck up all the resources to maximize shareholder value? What if you were an every-man looking to gobble up everyone that's made your life miserable (including those pesky corporate overlords)? Those are obviously off-the-cuff ideas but hopefully you get the picture I'm trying to paint.

Thanks for making such a fun game! I'm looking forward to playing the next iteration!

Hi aarimous, I really like your videos. here is my feedback.

  • Just like other have said i'd like to be a little faster a the beggining
  • After a while (and rushing movement speed upgrade) i felt like it got quite stale in regards of progress. maybe it's because of the lack of content in regards of the "enemies" but didn't feel the NEED for upgrading anymore because why would i? this gets me to my next point and what i feel is the most important
  • Lacks a lose condition. I Believe this is a really important part in this kinds of game. The fact that we need to optimize the way in which we colelect points should be driven by a point limit that we have to pass in order to not lose. Balatro antees, Nubbys number factory round goal, etc. Whitout a lose there's no difference between the numbers going up fast or slow and without that difference there's no point in looking for a critic of the game's pacing.
  • Look into adding a dark mode where the background is black and the black hole white. This would make it so much more nicer for most people. for me it's not a problem but i use godot in light mode so there's that.
  • It feels like there's no point in the asteroids having health points because when they touch you you just suck them. I dont know if im missing something with this but in the way the game is presented it's really hard for me to make out the details.

I love your videos. Maybe concentrate on adding "juice" to the game. Make the game fun even without the upgrades. The game needs to feel like a toys you want to play with.

  • Make the black hole faster. You can put less rocks or increase the cost of upgrades of needed.
  • The rocks can appear off screen.
  • As you get more powerful\faster, zoom out the map.
  • Have the rock stretch into the black hole.
  • Change the pith of the sfx when you get a rock.
  • When the progress bar is full, do an easing function easeOutElastic, add particles. It'll feel more powerful.
  • Add a small parallax with the background.
  • When the rock loose life with radiation (need a description) maybe they could shake.
  • The debris doesn't do much, it could destroy rocks.
  • The rocks could smash together (with the debris).

I knew your nickname looked familiar! I was just about to check out your full release. Didn't expect to see you here :D Yeah, damaging rocks with debris was my first instinct too and zoom out is a must have. This game reminds me a bit of agar io, maybe it could be a source of some inspiration.

-i am a black hole why am i even moving. i must pull stuff
- show numbers, like +1 +5 etc. i like seeing numbers.
- progress bars  are meaningles, whole damage system is meaningless. pull range is what should matter

i know i am describing a different game. but this one where i slowly move to asteroids is boring

Gameplay and Critique ;)

It's an okay Prototype, wouldn't calling it a Game tbh, Needs a purpose, content, ennemies maybe, other asteroids.. upgrades.. but the gameplay part is okay

Concept with potential. Needs hazards (maybe other black holes, you need to break with radiation so you can absorb them?) and maybe way bigger Asteroids that would be a tough nut to crack. Additionally, scaling would be great; if you reach the maximum size, you zoom out and gain a "soft" prestige. (thinking tasty planet)

It seems like there isn't much skill involved because it moves so slow. After five minutes, i just started to watch it and realized i didnt even need to interact. Then i was just picking skills that worked with the fact that i wasn't playing. like increasing spawn of astroids and increasing their size rather than increasing my movement. Its cool that if i was going to get serious and play, i could pick the other paths. Hope my ramblings help you in someway!

now i will leave this game running on my computer while i work on my own stuff lo

It would be cool if the points game in when the broken up pieces reached the center. at high level its cool to see them all go in but it would be fun if it gave points like coins from a slot machin

More boring than doing my 9-5 job

This movement speed is a crime

The game looks good so far, but the gameplay itself feels a bit boring. A few suggestions that might spice things up:

  • large groups of asteroids that are satisfying to collect all at once
  • asteroids that move faster, to give some difficulty to the game (maybe comets, that move fast but give more matter?)
  • faster initial speed/acceleration to make early game less slow (or even cheaper upgrades in early game, with level ups more often
  • not being able to access the upgrade screen outside of level ups is quite annoying, and i think a "size" upgrade would be better than a leveling system

P.S. i like the upgrade names :)
